“Standing Tide” is the first song that the band wrote, which has had multiple changes since its initial form. The band feels that it captures not only their heavy aspects, but also their progressive sound and use of dynamics and complex rhythms.

As I stood there on the shore, I felt the tides come in to wash away my remorse/And all of the things that kept me up at night – /So frightening, disappeared beneath the breaking waves/Well I could marvel at it all and scan the lines between, but I know this world has nothing left for me/Fear; fear of the unknown sets in/(What will I find when I’m) down below, the ebb and flow of all thoughts –/Threatening to overtake/Send me down, I can’t think of them anymore!/And I can’t let my guard down/The sound of oceanic terror drawing near –it’s clear that I can’t do this alone./My mind breaks under the strain, calling me back up to the surface once again/Through darkened seas you may hear my screams –/I’ve changed the man that I used to be./All these scattered memories.../(I can’t begin to under)stand what’s real and what’s concealed behind/These jaded eyes./And if you could see/The way I’m bleeding/From this wound so deep/So deep it cannot heal/ My mind breaks under the strain, calling me back up to the surface once again/Through darkened seas, you may hear my screams –/I’ve changed the man that I used to be/(I swam so far below)/Send me down/I can’t think of them anymore
